DirecTV Service Interrupted: What To Do

WSEC/ PBS Springfield has been working tirelessly to update viewers with DirecTV service on why they’re currently missing their channel from the normal lineup.

When DirecTV relocated one of their satellite receivers to an AT&T building in Decatur as part of a cost-saving initiative, it was discovered that WSEC signals would not reach this location in Decatur. To resolve the issue, WSEC has been working to rebuild a path to get their signal back on DirecTV, and is about to sign a contract with a provider that will get full signal restored to DirecTV customers. However, in the meantime, DirecTV has dropped WSEC from their satellite carriage. At this time, the goal is to get signal restored within 7-10 days.

“DirecTV has not been flexible in negotiating this contract renewal,” said Dr. Jerold Gruebel, President and CEO of Network Knowledge. “They gave us a deadline of January 1 to switch the way we’re connected—and that’s just not enough time. We’re working hard to rebuild this connection, but it is very costly and time-intensive. We hope to have this resolved within 10 days, but we feel DirecTV should’ve acted in good faith and not have deprived their viewers of public television in the meantime.”

DirecTV customers that are missing WSEC programming can contact DirecTV at 1 (800) 531-5000 to demand that carriage be restored immediately.
